For those occasions when touring the area and sightseeing must take second place to quiet relaxation, we can offer a choice of the following.

For exercise: Swimming, Walking, Cycling (Lady’s and gentleman’s mountain bikes are available in the Games room).

For competition: Petanque (boules), Table tennis, Darts, Various board games in the Games room.

For entertainment: English book library, CDs for all musical tastes, and an expanding selection of DVDs.

*     Barbecue facilities are available for your use if required.

For those with energy to spare, or should the weather become cool, cloudy or damp,we have a games area in the unrenovated part of the barn.  Or if temperatures rise to uncomfortable levels, then it is nice and cool.  We can also offer a gents and ladies bicycle with which to explore the local area.  Or if it is so hot, relax with a book in the shade of a tree.

Things to do within the area

Lac de Rouffiac – Leisure lake with supervised sand beach, Cable water-ski, canoes, pedalos, wind surfing, restaurant, Accro Park, fishing, pleasant to walk or run round and just a short walk away, at the bottom of the lane.

There are tennis courts in the nearby town of St Yrieix la Perche which is just a few minutes away by car. There is an indoor pool with a gym. The town has many supermarkets as well as numerous small local shops and a busy market held ever second Friday. St Yrieix also hosts an annual art exhibition, music festival and other such entertainments.

During July and August, popular farmer’s markets are held in the town on Thursday evenings and at the picturesque village of Ségur le Château on Monday evenings, where live music and barbeque enhance the experience.

River canoeing is available in a number of locations: at Cherveix Cubas (R. l’Auvezere – 25 mins) and Cornac sur l’Isle (R. l’isle – 25 mins), Montignac (R. La Vézère – 45 mins), or at 60 minutes away Brantome or Bourdeilles(both on R. La Dronne). There are also plenty of places on the Dordogne river.

On the third weekend of September, Angoulême hosts the renown classic car festival known as Le Circuit des Ramparts.  This unique event features cars and bikes dating from between 1900 and 1970 on show, touring and racing – all in full public view, accessible and exciting.

For those with an interest in golf, there is a local course at Domaine Est, Excideuil  (approximately 20 minutes), and others at BriveLimoges and Perigueux which are each approximately 50 minutes away.
