Situated in gently rolling countryside, ROUFFIAGUET (Pronounced Roofy-a-gay) was a farm, formerly part of the Chateau de Rouffiac estate. Located near the borders of the Dordogne, Haute Vienne and Correze, ROUFFIAGUET is ideally placed for exploring the many places of interest in the locality, be they archaeology sites, historic chateaux, surprising gardens, unique events such as farmers’ markets with barbeque, music and of course French wine, or simply picturesque medieval villages and countryside. Using ROUFFIAGUET as a basis for your stay, we offer one bedroomed accommodation set in a tranquil and picturesque rural location. Gîte Noix (Walnut) is on the ground floor. Gîte Noisette (Hazelnut) has a first floor bedroom. Gîte Châtaigne (Chestnut) is on the first floor. There is a large in ground outdoor swimming pool. For those that simply can’t be without the internet, wifi connectivity is available within each gîte and patio. A self service breakfast can be provided for a small additional charge should you need only a short stay without catering facilities. Perhaps as an invited guest to a wedding at La Durantie at Lanouaille or a wedding at Domaine d’Essendiéras, St Medard d’ Excideuil or an exhibitor at the annual art festival in St Yrieix La Perche. Whatever the reason for your visit, ROUFFIAGUET provides an ideal location for your stay. Have a look at our guest book comments for the views of recent guests. The village of Lanouaille is just 3 miles, while the market town of St Yrieix (famous for the fine white clay used in the production of the renown porcelain of Limoges) is 9 miles north with a delightful old centre. Larger market towns are Limoges to the north, Brive to the south east, south west is Perigueux and Sarlat to the south. Combining history, picturesque beauty and a thriving market is the town of Montignac approximately 45 minutes car journey away and en-route to Sarlat. The region immediately around ROUFFIAGUET is known for its cattle (Limousin), apple orchards, chestnut and walnut plantations and the Perigordine gourmet delights of foie gras and confit de canard. Situated in gently rolling countryside adjacent to the Lac de Rouffiac, and secluded in 4 hectares of woodland and fields, ROUFFIAGUET offers all the tranquillity needed for a restful holiday and an ideal base from which to explore or simply relax. The Lac du Rouffiac is popular as a ‘Bas de Loisirs’ with canoes, teleski, fishing, adventure trail, beach, restaurant in high season and extensive walks.
